The defending champions are at it again.
Owasso First Assembly from suburban Tulsa, Oklahoma has started the main round-robin play of the 2009 Teen Bible Quiz National Finals with an undefeated day, capped off by a ninth-round battle-royal with Cedar Park Assembly of Bothell, Washington. Owasso came back from a 55-point deficit, and turned the game around by taking the rebound on a missed 30-pointer by Bothell plus a quiz-out. That 65-point swing put Owasso out in front for good.
The same two teams finished first and second last year at Green Bay, and were picked by many to battle once again for the title.
On the Challenger Division side, First Assembly of Lexington, Kentucky - which finds itself in the lower division with the absence of its top quizzer - leads with an 8-1 record, one game ahead of four teams tied for second.
